One Year (a Few Months Late)

I’m working on catching up on some of my older pictures and realized that I never shared Sylvia’s one year pictures. 19762 3-22-2009 Sylvia19805 3-22-2009 Sylvia19859 3-22-2009 Sylvia19877 3-22-2009 SylviaShe had enough after only a few pictures, so we got out a little bribery. She was lovin it!

Fathers Day

This year we spent the day out at Holland State Park to visit Scott’s Dad and sisters who are camping there. I was so bummed because I forgot my camera. But I did manage to make up for the lack of pictures during the day when we went to the pool later that night.

Sylvia has no fear of the water so Scott and I have to constantly watch her.

That night was the first time Sylvia had her very own ice cream cone. I’m pretty sure she enjoyed every second of it!

Cottage

The beginning of June our family spent 2 weeks at the cottage. It wasn’t very warm during our time there, but we found plenty to keep us busy.

Nicholas caught his very first fish right off the dock with Alex’s fishing pole. He was so excited about it that we had to go and buy him his own pole so he could do it more the next day.

Birthday Girl

I can hardly believe my baby is one already! She just started doing this really cheesy smile & I happened to get it with my point & shoot today. She only gives this smile to Daddy and Grammie.

We went to Target this afternoon so Nicholas could pick out a present for her. He picked out a play piggy bank and he even helped me wrap it. It wasn’t his first choice though – he really wanted to get her a Thomas train that he didn’t have yet.  I’m sure someone would have loved that and I’m not talking about Sylvia :)

Birthday Boy

Yesterday was my baby big boy’s birthday.  I can’t believe he is three already.  Seems like just yesterday he was born.  I guess everyone probably thinks that about their kids.

His first celebration was at Grandma & Grandpa Dieleman’s house last week. I gave my mom a book of all different cupcakes for Christmas.   I let Nicholas pick one out and my mom and I spent a whole afternoon decorating 10 different cupcakes. He was worth it, although not sure if I would do that again :)

We even made them to look like each of the 10 grand kids – well really just the different color eyes and hats, but still customized.

Nicholas loved them & had a great party.

He got so many nice gifts including a wall-e arm (which is his favorite character right now), a lot of Thomas trains (an all time favorite) and a guitar like he loves to play at Grammie’s house on Wednesdays.

Yesterday was his actual birthday.  During the day we just hung around at home.  Sylvia loves doing anything her big brother does – and I think Nicholas likes it too.

Check out her leg – she was cuddling with him on the floor

When Scott got home we opened a few presents.

Nicholas loves Wall-E right now (the book kept falling out of the sleeve so this is the only pict I got)

Another one of his little presents was a flashlight/laser pointer he wanted really bad when we visited Scott at work

Not sure if that was a good idea :)

Then we headed out for dinner at Red Robin.  We decided to go there because last year when we were going to take him to Chuck E Cheese,  there was a 2 hour wait.  So last minute we decided to go to Red Robin.  He was smiles from ear-to-ear when they sang to him and brought him ice cream.  This year not so much…  I think he was startled when the came up behind him and started clapping and singing.  In fact he was crying so hard I don’t think the waiters and waitresses knew if they should keep on going or just stop right then.

(Here he is just starting to lose it)

He did like the balloon they brought him though!

Then to top the night off we headed to Toys R Us so he could buy something with the money his Great-Grandma sent him.

The last three years have been such a joy and he is such a blessing to me!  I just love this little man!

Merry Christmas!

Halloween

Just wanted to share some of my kiddos on Halloween.  This year I decided to let Nicholas pick out his own costume.  Well he got to pick between the three that were left on the rack in Target a couple days before Halloween anyway.   It was very fitting though since we watch the movie Cars practically every day!

Showing off his hook…

He was pretty excited!

I was going to make a costume for Sylvia – in fact I already had a tutu complete, but then I saw this & had to get it. Now the tutu will be part of her birthday outfit :)

This little dumpling learned how to crawl today too – on her 8 month birthday!

We celebrated this year at our church where there were lots of games and candy for the kids. Nicholas had a great time till the very end when we decided to get a bunch of the kids together for a picture. Notice who is missing???  Oh yes – the photographers kid!

We had to get one of Sylvia and her little buddies (Juliet, Stella & Bryce) too who were all born pretty close together.
